Adobe + Yahoo! = ColdFusion gets “richer”

Big news for those who are making the Web2.0 world spin on ColdFusion. Thanks to Ray Camden Yahoo just launched their official ColdFusion Developers Network. I’ve been looking forward to something like this since I first heard of the inclusion of Yahoo’s YUI JavaScript library as the basis of many of the nifty UI effects in ColdFusion 8 (currently in BETA). How does ColdFusion 8 and YUI fit together?

Think: “YUI is to ColdFusion as Script.aculo.us is to Ruby on Rails“.

I’ve been playing with the YUI library for a while now and if for no other reason than the excellent documentation site (head and shoulders above the other free JS kits) it has my vote for best of breed.

Interview: Sandy Clark - CFUNITED 2007

Today my interview with Sandy Clark was published on FusionAuthority. Sandy is just one of the great speakers you can expect to see at CFUNITED 2007. If you haven’t registered yet you’re probably planning to be out of the country or in a state penitentiary at the time.

Check out the interview.

Interview: Simon Horwith - CFUNITED 2007

I recently sat down with Simon Horwith, CIO of AboutWeb to discuss his upcoming talk at CFUNITED in Bethesda Maryland.

The talk is entitled “Success From The Trenches - Building Better Applications”. It promises to be a seasoned expert’s look at developing high availability / enterprise grade applications in ColdFusion.

It can be read here - via FusionAuthority.com

Interview: Ray Camden “Model-Glue, Spry, and You”

Today I sat down with Ray Camden to discuss his upcoming talk “Model-Glue, Spry, and You” at the cfObjective() conference in Minneapolis MN.

You can read the interview via FusionAuthority.com.

Interview: Hal Helms - CFUNITED 2007

I recently interviewed Hal Helms, a well-known author, speaker, and software architect, about his upcoming CFUNITED 2007 presentation “OO Programming with CFCs“. It’s part of a series of interviews I’m doing for FusionAuthority.com and CFUNITED event promotion.

The interview can be seen here.

Off to AjaxWorld

I’m off to the SYS-CON AjaxWorld East conference. I’ll be covering all three days for FusionAuthority.com.

They’ve got a pretty rich line-up of speakers. A veritable “who’s who” of Ajax technology leaders. I’m especially excited at the possibility of having a sit-down interview with Christophe Coenraets, the man who appears to be Adobe’s official “senior technical evangelist” for Apollo.

Why “Java to ColdFusion” evangelism is relevant again

Those of you who have been trying to convert Java developers to ColdFusion (perhaps way past time it was considered “fashionable”) rejoice!
New thought, and with it, great articles, have emerged.

The latest is from Kola Oyedeji and has been recently published on Java.net. It reads like a “technical executive summary” for those who have always wondered what ColdFusion was, and why they should care. Check out ColdFusion for JSP Developers and if you would be so kind, share it with a weary JSP developer who may be at this very moment contemplating leaving his job and becoming a pro golfer.

Some go so far as to argue that ColdFusion is in a unique position to capture market share away from Java, as apposed to merely defending itself on losing ground. For a little insight into this I recommend Hal Helm’s article “a new vision for ColdFusion“. Print this one out and deliver it to the doorstep of a developer near you.
